The revised FRS 102 Section 20 took effect for accounting periods beginning on or after 1 January 2026, and for preparers, the questions have moved from "what's changing" to “what do I do about it”. That means identifying which contracts contain leases, measuring right-of-use assets and lease liabilities, and building disclosures that include the relevant information , all ahead of your first annual reporting period under the revised standard.
This session will cover how the calculations work. We'll compare the revised Section 20 with IFRS 16 so you know where the two standards compare and, more importantly, where they don't. An existing IFRS 16 approach does not transfer over without adjustment, and we'll discuss exactly where that matters. From there, we'll work through lease terms, lease payments, and discount rates for measurement of ROU Assets and Lease Liabilities, then build out a practical transition plan: contract identification, data collection, policy decisions, opening balance calculations, and disclosure preparation.
Purpose-built for UK and Republic of Ireland based organisations and chartered accountancy firms managing FRS 102 Section 20 reporting.
